ZACK D. SMITH

ABOUT

I grew up in a small town in northeastern Kansas. I spent 25 years of my life there, learning & growing. Then, I ventured south to the Florida Keys, where I lived for 5 years on three different islands. Most recently, I’ve come to rest in the San Francisco Bay area, where I entertain any opportunity to explore and enjoy the outdoors.

I have been seriously into photography since circa 2005. My first semi-proper DSLR was a Nikon D40x. Constantly tinkering with that camera opened up my eyes to a wonderful world of opportunities in creativity. After a couple of years cutting my teeth in digital photography, I was hooked. Next in the mix was my Canon 5D Mark II. That camera was revolutionary in the world photography and my own. I went deep, then got lost in the details and minutia, which I love. It was during this camera’s reign, in 2010, that I got serious and began offering my services professionally. I still have it, and likely will for a long time, we went through a lot together. However, my latest and greatest and my favorite thus far, is the Sony A7R3. My father was a boxing coach for 28 years. From the time that I was able to do so, I helped him to record full-size VHS camcorder videos for many of his boxing events. It fascinated me, but I was lost in the burdens of developing. I stepped away from video for many years, but the A7R3 has afforded me an opportunity to begin getting back to those roots. This time, in Ultra High Definition. =)

Although my primary focus is on interiors, exteriors and design products, I’m interested in many genres of photography and videography. I frequently create landscape, aerial, wildlife and macro photos and video. I think that we’re all on the hunt for that perfect shot, since I haven’t found it yet, I’ll keep searching and keep shooting! If you’d like to check out some of my personal work, click here.
